What equipment do I need to make homemade granola cereal?
–A set of teaspoons and tablespoons: This stainless steel measuring spoon set is perfect. I use the one that my pastry college provided to me. I did use the plastic ones, but let me tell you, yes, they may look boring, but stainless steel is best for long-term and safe use.
–Big Bowl: I use this one because, when I shoot videos, it reflects the light, and you also get to see all the ingredients. It can also be used in the microwave.
Weighing Scale: Not everything good is costly, and this weighing scale is perfect for weighing for all your recipes. I have been using this one for 6 years, and then it broke because I dropped it by mistake. You would think I bought one after that, but no. I decided to use a tape and kept using it for 6 more months until it finally gave up, and I had to buy another one.
What ingredients do I need to make easy homemade granola cereal?
You are going to need oats. I used instant oats, and you can also use the healthier old-fashioned rolled oats. If you are confused about the types of oats, you can check out my blog post here, it’s all about oats.
Next, you are going to need dry fruits. You can choose to add your choice of dry fruits and even alter the quantity as per your liking. Just make sure the total amount of nuts is the same as my recipe to get the same results.
For seeds, I used sunflower and pumpkin seeds during baking. I added chia seeds once the baking was done.
I used sugar as well as honey to sweeten the granola. The salt added helps in bringing out the flavors. I also used oil, which makes it crispy once baked. I believe in balance, so I feel the amount of healthy calories beat the calories from oil and sugar, so you are fine:)
The nuts and seeds make this granola nutrient-rich and delicious. The oats provide fiber and help in digestion. Now that you have all the ingredients let’s see how to make it.

Pro tips to help you nail this easy homemade granola cereal:
- This is a vegetarian and gluten-free recipe.
- I do not like raw raisins, so I prefer baking it with granola. The raisins will puff up as they bake and taste better to me. If you like raisins the way it is, please refrain from adding them initially. Add it to your granola once it is baked.
- The seeds and nuts ensure a nutrient-dense granola.
- Seeds like sunflower seeds and flax seeds need baking. However, chia seeds and watermelon seeds can be consumed as is.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I put granola in yogurt?
Yes, you can consume it like any other cereal.
Is granola better or muesli?
It depends on what you prefer. I like granola more than muesli.
Are granola and muesli the same?
Muesli is consumed raw and usually avoids any sweeteners. Granola is baked and has added sweeteners.
