Alright, let’s make red velvet cookies. Are these red-colored cookies? Um, yes. But there’s so much more to it than that.

Okay, now many recipes will tell you to add oil, but this one has butter. Because it has butter, the dough will be tighter, therefore eliminating the step of chilling the dough.

Make sure you use room temperature ingredients for best results. I always take my ingredients out and leave them outside.

Now, while coating the cookies, we will coat them in castor sugar so that they melt and form a sticky layer. The powder sugar will stick to this layer and not fall off after baking.

  • Place on a baking tray and bake at 180 degrees Celsius/ 356 degrees for around 14 minutes. Make sure to check the cookies at 10 minutes because not all ovens are the same.
