What equipment do I need to make a homemade hot chocolate recipe?
What ingredients do I need to make a homemade hot chocolate recipe with dark chocolate?
Ahem, get ready to learn. Let’s go- You are going to first need milk. Now, I have used full-fat milk. Some hot chocolate recipes call for cream, but, I have preferred using milk over cream.
The cream makes the concoction so rich and creamy that it makes it difficult to finish a cup and not feel overwhelmed. However, if you love it, definitely go for it. Hey, there’s no judging going on here..okay! You do you.
The quality of dark chocolate you use is going to matter and will affect how the hot chocolate tastes. Period. You can go ahead with any dark chocolate that you like. Make sure to chop it into small pieces and drop it in the pan.
Now, adding salt will bring out more chocolate flavor, which is what we all want. I saw some coffee powder, and I was like, why not? It’s similar to making brownies, that little coffee will make the flavor profile intense and rich. So add in some coffee powder and some cinnamon powder.
Why cinnamon? Because, is it even hot chocolate in winter, if you don’t add in winter’s favorite spice- cinnamon? The cocoa powder, of course, is added to give a base to the concoction.
Let’s talk garnish, okay? Drink it as it is, or maybe add some marshmallows, or pipe out whipped cream with some chocolate shavings. You can even try wafers, which is what I tried and loved.
This recipe makes about 3 small cups or 2 big cups of hot chocolate
