I initially started out trying to come up with a low-calorie but delicious cake recipe. Now, to be honest, I have never counted calories while eating and had no idea how many calories every ingredient would be. So I did some research looking for low-calorie alternatives to traditional chocolate cake ingredients.
But somehow the switches were not my absolute favorite. I decided to ahead with a healthy banana and chocolate cake for now. So the calories may not have significantly reduced but it is definitely lower than a traditional chocolate cake.
This cake will give you 8 good-sized slices and each will have a calorie count of 213 calories. A traditional cake slice of the same size would have 333 calories -yes, I did calculations even though I hate calculations, just for you:). While counting the calories, I was amazed to see how even healthy ingredients have high calories but I focused on the quality of the ingredients and not the calories.
Just 60 ml of coconut oil had 475 calories!! But on the flip side look at the vast amount of benefits coconut oil has and you will realize what I am talking about. So even if this chocolate cake is high in calories, it definitely has ingredients that are good 4 u (Olivia Rodrigo reference..haha). The only ingredient I wasn’t happy about is the sugar that I added, but it was needed for this recipe. I will definitely come up with another recipe that uses no sugar and is healthy.

No worries, you can simply take your bananas. Poke plenty of holes using a fork or a knife. I would recommend using a knife. Go all stabby stabby and stab the banana everywhere. This ensures that it doesn’t burst in the microwave oven. Now place it in the microwave and heat it in the highest setting for a minute. You will see the banana go from firm to all mushy in just a minute. Enjoy making some banana recipes now.
How to make chocolate cake (No butter,Eggless, Blender cake)
Chocolate cake easy recipe made using a blender. No egg and no butter recipe.
Ingredients
- Banana- 2 overripe
- Whole wheat flour- 150 grams
- Milk- 100 ml
- Wood pressed coconut oil- 60 ml
- Refined sugar- 120 grams
- Cocoa powder- 20 grams
- Cinnamon powder- 1 tsp
- Vanilla essence- 1 tsp
- Baking powder- 1 tsp
- Salt- 1/4 tsp
- Vinegar- 1 tsp
- Walnuts- 5 nos.
Directions
- Step 1 Pre-heat your microwave oven at 180 degrees Celsius/ 356 degrees Fahrenheit in convection setting.
- Step 2 Line a cake tin using butter paper in the base. Grease the rest of the tin using oil. I used a 8.5 x 4.5 x 2.75 inch loaf pan. You can buy one over here.
- Step 3 In a blender, blend two bananas. The riper the bananas, the better.
- Step 4 Add sugar, cinnamon powder and vanilla essence. Blend till sugar dissolves completely.
- Step 5 Pour this mix in a bowl.
- Step 6 Add coconut oil and mix very well. It may seem like it will not mix, but trust the process and keep mixing.
- Step 7 Add whole wheat flour or atta, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and mix.
- Step 8 It will be very dry, so just mix a little.
- Step 9 Add the milk and mix well.
- Step 10 Now add vinegar and mix very well. Make sure that this is the last thing that you add, as the vinegar will start reacting with the baking powder. This is the step where you can add any nuts, chocolate chunks or chocolate chips.
- Step 11 Pour batter in a greased and lined cake tin.
- Step 12 Place walnuts or any topping of your choice on top.
- Step 13 Bake at 180 degrees Celsius/ 356 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes in convection setting.
- Step 14 Poke a skewer or a knife to check if the cake is done. If the skewer or the knife comes out clean, your banana chocolate cake is done.
- Step 15 Cool, take it out of the pan, slice and serve.
- Step 16 I used a sharp knife to cut out 8 thick slices.
- Step 17 You can also bake it in a round cake tin.
