1. Oven
Oven is the first thing that you will need to bake. I will cut to the chase and say I would recommend buying a microwave convection oven over an OTG, because let’s face it, not all our family members are gonna bake. Microwave convection has multiple features and can be used to heat food, make mug meals, use auto cook modes, grill, and bake using the convection mode at the same time. But if you are looking to buy something just for the purpose of baking, then definitely buy an OTG.
OTG stands for Oven, Toaster, and Griller. It consumes less electricity and is cheaper compared to microwave ovens.

2. Electric Beater
An electric beater is perfect for every beginner or home baker. Kitchen aids or Stand Mixers are costly and not affordable for someone starting out their baking journey. This electric beater is perfect and you can use the dough hook for making bread dough, pizza dough and any other dough. Use the beater for mixing, beating, and whisking. These come with only two types of attachment and have no paddle. Use the beater attachment as a paddle. The beaters in this are flat and not rounded and can therefore act as a paddle as well. I have been using Philips electrical beater for about 8 years now. I guess because it is old, I could not find a link on Amazon for the exact same model. Instead, I found this electric beater for you which you can check out.

3. Mixer Grinder
A good mixer grinder is essential in baking and you will need it for making macarons, grinding nuts, grinding biscuits, grinding sugar, grinding spices, blending cake batters, making fruit juices, puddings and so much more. You will perhaps already have one , feel free to use that for all your baking needs. If you wish to buy a new one, I would suggest buying a good quality mixer grinder with multiple jar options. I use Wonderchef as well as Philips. My personal recommendation would be to buy the Philips mixer grinder because it is more sturdy and durable.

4. Grater
A grater is very useful in baking as you will need it to mainly grate cheese and spices. It also comes in handy for grating vegetables for pies and casseroles. Most households will already have a grater, but in case you don’t, you can purchase a stainless steel grater. Try to buy one with minimum fancy coverings and casings as those will trap dirt and food particles.

5. Baking tray
This one is something where you have to exercise a good amount of self-control. There are so many options out there, that it is quite common that you end up buying 6 baking trays instead of just one 😂 . But, to be honest, you will need only the following types of baking trays as a baker:
- Flat round baking tray: This tray is perfect for cookies, as a base for cakes, sponges, and breads. You can purchase this if your oven requires you to use a round baking tray and you love baking pizzas.
- Flat rectangle baking tray: This tray is perfect for cookies, as a base for cakes, sponges, and breads. You can purchase this if your oven requires you to use a rectangular baking tray.
- Deep baking dish: You will need a baking dish to make bread, cinnamon rolls, baked cheesecakes, soufflés, and puddings.
- Muffin tray: You will also need to invest in a good muffin tray, not just for muffins, but also for cupcakes, one serving cinnamon rolls, egg muffins, candies, garnishes, and much more.
Make sure you check your oven dimensions before buying a tray.

Cake Tins help in making cakes, cheesecakes, sponges, brownies, blondies, mousse cakes, ice cream cakes and so much more. Your kitchen should have the following cake tins:
A spring form cake tin: This one helps in easily demolding delicate desserts like cheesecake. [Buy it here]
Regular Cake Tin: A cake tin with no detachable bases and is easy to use and line. [Buy it here]

Loaf Tins are rectangular tins with or without lids. You can buy one with lid and then just remove it when you want to make something without the lid. The lid is used to make square-shaped sandwich bread and without the lid, you can bake tea cake loafs and regular breads.

Bonus baking needs:
1. Silicon mats
Silicon mats are such a blessing. Just use them over your baking tray to bake whatever you want. It is a little expensive but it is a good investment. Easy to clean, baked products don’t stick to the mat and it provides a good clean finish to the baked goods.
The one that I recommended is a macaron silicon mat. You can use this same mat for your macarons as well as for any and everything that you want to bake on it.

2. Oven Mitts
Oven Mitts are a no-brainer. Make sure you are buying good quality oven mitts. Prefer not to buy silicon holders because they are not good at doing their jobs. I tried using silicon oven mitts and silicon holders and it was not a good experience.

3. Parchment paper
This is not a baking tip for a beginner, this is for every baker out there. I realized this recently after using parchment paper. It is the best thing to use to line your cake tins, and baking trays. It’s extremely reliable and is perfect for baking. Parchment paper is a little expensive compared to butter paper or baking paper, however it can be used several times.
