What equipment do I need to make this flavorful and easy bacon mushroom spinach
quiche?

A set of teaspoons and tablespoons:

This stainless steel measuring spoon set is perfect. I use the one that my pastry college provided to me. I did use the plastic ones but let me tell you, they may look boring but stainless steel is best for long-term and safe use.

Big Bowl:

I use this one because it reflects the light when I shoot videos and you also get to see all the ingredients. It can also be used in the microwave.

Chopping board:

I bought my chopping board from a fair in Shantiniketan but I found something similar online. You can check this one out here.

Tart Pan:

For baking the quiche dough.

Chef’s Knife:

When I was studying hotel management, my chef said, keep your knife and wife close. Sexist, but you get it. Our knives are precious to us. We sharpen it regularly, clean it, and love it. Our chefs always taught us, that we need to love our tools and equipment and they will work perfectly for us. I agree with that and my knife always has been super kind to me. I bought this knife seven years ago and it’s good as new. Here is the knife that I use.

Weighing Scale:

Not everything good is costly and this weighing scale is perfect for weighing all your recipes. I have been using this one for 6 years and then it
broke because well I dropped it by mistake. You would think, I bought one after that but no. I decided to use tape and kept using it for 6 more months until it
finally gave up and I had to buy another one.

Spatula:

Trust me when I say, you need this silicon spatula. It’s the best thing ever! Nothing, I repeat nothing can clean your bowls the way a spatula cleans it.
Also bonus points, it’s heat resistant, dishwasher safe, and has no cracks and
crevices, so it’s easy to clean.

Sieve:

Sieving ingredients make better dishes and remove impurities and should always be done when using flour and cocoa powder in your recipes.

Results in that crispy flaky exterior or the crust that we all love when we bite into a quiche. Here’s another crispy crunchy healthy air fried croutons recipe for you to try out!

Spinach

Mushroom

Garlic

Refined Oil

Salt

Black pepper

Processed cheese (grated)

Cheese here is just for that beautifully browned top that is going to be the highlight of this quiche. Oh and if you are here for the golden crust, might I suggest trying out this Creamy Air Fryer Mashed Potatoes.

Egg

The egg provides binding and ties the entire quiche together. The protein in the egg is what gets baked and creates a beautiful custardy texture.

Cream

The cream in the egg mixture for quiche serves a few purposes. First, it adds richness and creaminess to the quiche, making it taste delicious. Cream also helps create a smooth texture in the quiche. Additionally, it contributes to the overall moisture of the dish, keeping it from becoming too dry while baking. Overall, cream enhances the flavor and texture of the quiche, making it more enjoyable to eat.

Milk

Using both cream and milk in the egg mixture for quiche gives it a nice balance. The cream makes it rich and smooth, while milk adds moisture without making it too heavy. This mix gives the quiche a good taste, with cream making it rich and milk adding a lighter flavor. It also makes the quiche smooth and helps it stay together as it bakes, so it’s not too dry or dense. So, by using both cream and milk, the quiche tastes delicious and has a nice texture that’s not too heavy.

How to make this yummy Bacon Mushroom Spinach Quiche?

Prepping the pie base :

First, preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F). Roll out the quiche dough while it’s warming up and put it in a pie dish or tart pan. Press with your fingertips and trim the excess off using a knife. Add a piece of aluminum foil and then add lentils rice or kidney beans to act as baking weights. These baking weights prevent the puff dough from puffing up while baking. Bake the dough in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. After that, take the dish out, remove the baking weights carefully using the aluminum foil, and put it back in the oven. Bake it for another 10 minutes until it’s cooked through and gets a nice golden color.

Sauteing the veggies:

While the crust is baking, chop some garlic and slice mushrooms. Heat oil in a pan and cook the mushrooms and garlic until they’re soft and a bit brown. Chop up the bacon and throw it in there too. Add salt but avoid being generous as the bacon is already salty. The yummy smell of mushrooms might make you want to eat them right away, but be patient and wait to add them to the pie. Trust me, it’ll taste better that way! Now, clean the spinach leaves carefully. Put them in boiling water for a short time, then move them to ice water to stop cooking. Congrats, you just blanched your spinach! Once they’re cool, chop them up. Enjoy the satisfying crunch as you cut them.

For the royale or the custard mix:

Whisk together egg, milk, cream, salt, and pepper for the filling and set it aside. It is time to take the partially baked quiche crust out of the oven and evenly spread the sautéed mushrooms, bacon, spinach, and garlic over the crust. I can tell, you can already smell the bakery in your Kitchen.

Final steps to the Quiche:

Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the mushroom mixture for the yummy cheesy goodness, and then evenly distribute the chopped blanched spinach over the cheese and add the egg and milk mixture all around the tart. The melted cheese and the dough are sure to bring the golden hour to your table.
Place the quiche back in the oven and bake at 180°C (356°F) for approximately 20 minutes or until the top is golden and the filling is set.
Once baked, remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Remove it from the mold, cut the quiche into slices, and serve either warm or at room temperature and enjoy your homemade masterpiece!

I’m picking this one up from Wikipedia. The word is first attested in French in 1805, and in 1605 in Lorrain patois. The first English usage — “quiche lorraine” — was recorded in 1925. The further etymology is uncertain but it may be related to the German Kuchen meaning “cake” or “tart”.
