What equipment do I need to make the best easy banana bread recipe?
A set of teaspoons and tablespoons
This stainless steel measuring spoon set is perfect. I use the one that my pastry college provided to me. I did use the plastic ones, but let me tell you, they may look boring. But stainless steel is best for long-term and safe use.
Big Bowl
I use Big Bowl because it reflects the light when I shoot videos, and you also get to see all the ingredients. It can also be used in the microwave.
Cake tin
I use this cake tin to bake my cake. I don’t have a big family or a lot of friends and relatives with whom I can share, so I use this tiny cake tin.
Electric beater
I have been using my electrical beater for so long that the model doesn’t exist anymore…haha. That is precisely why I would forever recommend that you use this brand’s electrical beater. Make sure it has a whisk attachment.
Weighing Scale
Not everything good is costly, and this weighing scale is perfect for weighing for all your recipes. I have been using this one for 6 years, and then it broke because I dropped it by mistake. You would think I bought one after that, but no. I decided to use a tape and kept using it for 6 more months until it finally gave up, and I had to buy another one.
Spatula
Trust me when I say you need this silicon spatula. It’s the best thing ever! Nothing, I repeat, nothing can clean your bowl the way a spatula cleans it. Also, bonus points, it’s heat resistant, dishwasher safe, and has no cracks and crevices, so it’s easy to clean.
Balloon Whisk
This balloon whisk has a good grip and rounded tip for better whisking. I don’t use this because I already got balloon whisks when I got my toolkit from college, but this one’s a good whisk.
Sieve
Sieving dry ingredients makes better dishes and removes impurities, and should always be done when using flour and spice powders or cocoa powder in your recipes.
Parchment paper
This will prevent the bread from sticking to the cake tin. In case you have run out of yours or don’t have one handy, here are some alternatives for you to use: You can grease your cake tin with some butter and then dust some flour on top of it, or if you have butter paper you can oil your cake tin and line it with baking paper.
Just to make it clear for you, parchment paper and baking paper are two different things; if you have access to parchment paper, nothing is better than it, so whether you are a pro or a noob at baking, always keep parchment paper and baking paper handy.
What ingredients do I need to make a moist banana bread easy recipe?
Sugar:
For this recipe, I am using refined-grain sugar. Sugar in this recipe will give your banana bread just the right sweetness. Due to its quality, it will also attract and retain moisture, and this can help keep the bread moist and soft even after it cools down. Also, during baking, it will caramelize and give your bread that golden brown tint.
Banana:
Ripe or overripe bananas are best for this recipe. Here, the ripe bananas will provide natural sweetness and moisture to your bread. It will also help provide structure to your bread. Plus, when baked, your house will smell of caramelized bananas enough to hint your neighbors to come over for a cup of coffee.
Since you are checking out the recipe for banana bread, you can also try out other recipes that use bananas and are easy to make. I am linking a few below, so check them out.

Flour:
I am using all-purpose flour for this recipe, which is easily available. We can use cake flour as well, and the flour will provide structure and texture to your bread. The flour will also impart the perfect brown color to your bread because of the Maillard reaction( a chemical reaction common in your bread and other types of foods that imparts the flavor and the brown color to the bread)
Baking soda:
Here, we are using just a little amount of baking soda to make your bread rise and give it that aerated, crumb-like texture. Instead of baking powder, we are using baking soda because, by nature, baking powder is acidic, but the milk we are using in this recipe is also acidic, so instead of baking powder, we have used baking soda. We cannot skip the baking soda here because not adding it will leave your bread tasting bad, which obviously none of us want. So go ahead and use it sparingly, as given in the measurements.
Cinnamon powder:
This is one secret ingredient that your banana bread definitely needs. Just adding the right amount of this magical spice can do wonders to your banana bread. Apt for this fall season when you long for something warm and spicy that makes you feel cozy and comfortable, make cinnamon powder your friend, not just for this cake, you can spice up your coffees and hot chocolates too!! Sounds Yummy, isn’t it?
Vanilla extract:
Who doesn’t love Vanilla? I surely do, so I am assembling all the ingredients here (Banana, cinnamon, and Vanilla) and a few others for a taste of heaven. However, if you don’t like the vanilla flavor or would like to skip it, you can do so, as the cinnamon and banana will mask the smell of the egg. Another great substitute for vanilla extract is a coffee decoction, which also is a great flavor to add to your banana bread. I will share how you can make your own coffee decoction in the procedure below.
If you would be interested in checking a few recipes where coffee plays the main character, then you would love these recipes.

Milk:
You can use milk of your choice for this recipe: plant-based milk, skimmed milk, or full-fat milk, anything is fine. I am using toned milk here. The purpose of milk here is to give your bread the aeration it requires, since milk is acidic in nature, it will react with the baking soda and create the aeration for your bread to rise. It also provides richness to the cake as the milk has milk fat.
Egg:
I have used one egg in this recipe, which will impart richness to your bread. The yolk contributes to the richness because it has fat, and the egg white will help make your bread fluffy and soft as it will also help in aerating your banana bread. I have not tried substituting the egg here because it is integral to how your bread turns out. I would love to know your comments and thoughts if you try an eggless version of this recipe. This recipe uses eggs, and I have not tried the eggless version myself, but if you are looking for a few eggless recipes, I will link some of them here for you to check out.

How to make a quick and easy banana bread recipe?
Prepare the Banana mixture.
Start by mashing the ripe bananas in a big bowl, and then add the refined sugar. While mixing this, make sure to preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 356 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, use a whisk attachment and whisk the mixture for about one minute or until you are sure that the sugar has dissolved completely. This will create a sweet and creamy base for your banana bread. Remember, the banana also has natural sweetness, so we are not overloading your cake with sugar.
Mixing the wet ingredients
Now, it’s time to bring the wet ingredients. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla extract to the prepared banana mixture in the bowl and mix until everything is mixed and blended well. If you want to skip the vanilla and make it coffee-flavored, take 3 tablespoons of coffee and a very little amount of hot water and mix well. You can use this decoction as an alternative for vanilla extract if you are not a fan of vanilla flavor. Once you give everything a nice stir, it will make sure you have an evenly sweetened and smooth batter when you add the dry ingredients in the next step.
Measuring and Sieving the dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, measure your dry ingredients – flour, baking soda, and cinnamon powder. Sieve them well to make sure that there are no clumps and impurities; also, sieving aerates the mixture, making your bread lighter.
Mixing the dry ingredients
Add all the dry sieved ingredients to your bowl that has the mashed banana mixture and gently mix until a smooth batter is formed and all the ingredients become one happy family, check the pictures below for reference. You might actually get triggered to lick the batter, just warning you in advance ; )
Prepping your cake tin
Carefully line your cake tin with parchment paper or use any alternative ways if you don’t have parchment paper handy, like greasing your cake tin with butter and dusting some flour or using oil and baking paper to grease and line your cake tin with. Note that parchment paper eliminates the need for greasing, making it a convenient choice.
Baking your piece of heaven
Pour the prepared batter into the lined or greased cake tin and make sure it’s smooth and even.
Pro tip alert! For an extra touch of whimsy, slice a banana widthwise, place the slices on top of your batter, and sprinkle some sugar on top. It’s like a work of art – two perfect caramelized slices that will make your bread look as good as it tastes.
Pop that cake tin into your preheated oven and set your timer for 40 minutes, But remember to give it a peek post 20 minutes, as every oven is different.
At 40 minutes, once your oven timer goes off, you should have a perfectly baked, golden brown Banana bread. To check if the banana bread is done, use a skewer or a kitchen knife, and put it in your bread gently if it comes out clean, that means your slice of heaven is baked to perfection 🙂
Let the bread cool at room temperature in the cake tin; after 30 minutes, remove the bread and carefully remove the parchment paper. Wrap your banana bread in a cling film, put it in an airtight container, and freeze it for grabbing a bite later or whenever you crave some sweet banana delight. Do not leave your bread outside, as the surface of the bread will dry out and spoil the texture of the bread.

How to speed up bananas for banana bread?
Here are some tips I follow to ripen bananas for any recipe that includes ripe or overripe bananas, place them in a paper bag and loosely fold over the top. them in a warm place. Once ripened, you can freeze them

How to know my batter is ready?
Banana bread batter should look thick in consistency. It should not be running or watery, as this can result in a very dense final product minus the aerated texture. Also, make sure that there are no lumps in the batter, which is why we used a sieve for the dry ingredients.

You can use a skewer to check if the bread is done. Put the skewer gently in the bread, if you see that the skewer comes out clean or with some dry crumbs, that means your bread is done.
